CHAT SLANG DICTIONARY

On this page you will find a list of slang words, acronyms and abbreviations used in websites, chat rooms, blogs, Internet forums or text messaging with cell phones.

There are many such words in use, some are more widely understood than others, and new ones are evolving all the time. This list is large but incomplete; however it should contain the more commonly used slang words and abbreviations.

TAFN = that's all for now

TAMO = then a miracle occurs

TANJ = there ain't no justice

TANSTAAFL = there ain't no such thing as a free lunch

TARFU = things are really f***ed up

TBC = to be continued

TBE = to be expected

TBH = to be honest

TBYB = try before you buy

TC = telephone call; take care

TCB = taking care of business

TCBY = taking care of business, ya'll

TCD = the cat's dead

TDM = too damn many

TIME = tears in my eyes (often in combination)

TINC = there is no cabal

TT = two towers, the (a tolkien work)

TTBE = that's to be expected

TTBOMK = to the best of my knowledge

TTFN = ta-ta for now

TTL4N = that's the lot for now

TTM = to the moderator

TTMNR = take the money and run

TTS = tiny tit syndrome

TTUL = talk (or type) to you later

TTYL = talk to you later

TTYS = talk to you soon

TTYRS = talk to you real soon?

TUFD = the user file died

TWAIN = technology without an interesting name

TWIMC = to whom it may concern

TWYAS = that's what you all say

TWYT = that's what you think

TYLE = took you long enough

TYVL, YWEL = thank you very little, you're welcome even less

TYVM = thank you very much

TAFN = that's all for now

TC = take care

TFH = thread from hell

TGIF = thank goodness it's friday

THX = thanks!

TM = text message (often refers to communications with text over cell phones)

TMI = too much info. (information)

TNT = 'til next time

TPS = that's pretty stupid

TPTB = the powers that be (can sometimes refer to the people that are running the chat room or server)

TRDMF = tears running down my face: can be with either laughter, or due to saddness.

TSFY = tough s*** for you

TTFN = ta-ta for now

TTTT = these things take time

TYT = take your time

TLC = tender love and care

TOH = typing one-handed

TGIF = thank god it's friday

TCOY = take care of yourself

TILII = tell it like it is

TNT = till next time
